Protest Erupts Following Mysterious Death of Four-Year-Old at BrickHall School, Abuja

The untimely demise of four-year-old Miguel Ovoke, who tragically passed away at BrickHall School, Abuja, in April, has sparked outrage and a demand for justice.

Accompanied by concerned relatives, Ovoke’s mother led a protest at the school premises on Monday, calling for answers surrounding her son’s mysterious death.

In a video circulating on social media, demonstrators can be seen brandishing placards with impassioned pleas for justice, while police officers work to maintain order amidst the emotional turmoil.

The grieving mother contests the school’s official statement that her son succumbed to his condition at the hospital, alleging instead that Miguel tragically lost his life within the school premises.

In an Instagram post, she asserted, “Brick Hall School, Abuja killed my son (Miguel, 4 years old) on the 24th of April, 2024… Now, the school is oppressing us, the family of the child, and the school is still open.”

BrickHall School, situated at Cadastral Zone B11, Kaura in Abuja, is owned by Senator Joy Emodi, a former member of the Nigerian Senate and a prominent figure in education advocacy.

According to documents obtained by The PUNCH, Miguel was rushed to Excel Specialist Hospital, Abuja, by his teachers after reportedly choking on food during school hours. Despite medical efforts, he could not be revived.

The community and concerned citizens await further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Miguel’s tragic passing, seeking closure and accountability in this heartbreaking incident.
