The APC in ogun state have come under criticism over the primary election held across the state, as the LG election is set to hold in July, the discrepancies in the selection of candidates calls for sober reflection on the credibility of the poll as it approaches.
Arguably before now, many people believed that Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state will bring alot of goodies to the table and at such, party leaders and members who helped him across all the 236 wards will get a fair treatment.
The government then began with a faceless cabal who dictates what and how things happens across the state irrespective of the recommendations of notable leaders who helped the governor.
Despite Governor Abiodun’s ALL inclusiveness claims, it seems those are just mere theme. Obviously the Governor is only interested in paying lip service and not acting in according to his words.
The undemocratic process in Ifo local government is heart wrenching and a call for concern to women in politics, the transition commitee chairman single-handedly picked and imposed his preferred candidate in Ward 7 against the democratic tenets of the party. This singular act is capable of denting the “Ajose gbogbo wa ni” mantra.
Okunola Oladele is the only female councilorship candidate in Ifo local government to represent the good people of Ward 7. Her process of emergence was an open decision as she made the list amidst the 3 names that was submitted to the party leaders in a unanimous decision which was signed, sealed and stamped by the apex body in the local government which include Elder Joju Fadairo (GEAC member), Alh Adebesin M. A (GEAC member), RT Hon Olukunle Oluomo, (OGHA Speaker), Pastor Matthew Oladele, (LG Party Chairman), Hon Kunle Adeyemi (Former NASS Member), Hon Adijat Adeleye (Special Adviser to the Governor), Hon Ganiyu Oyedeji (OGHA Member), Hon Moruf Paramole (Commissioner OGHASC), Ogbeni Kolawole Isola (Sec, APC leadership IFLG).
However, in a letter received by EaglesPath shows Fola Salami request for change of candidature despite the democratic process that brought in Okunola.
Fola Salami in a letter dated 31st of June 2021 is of the opinion that as the transition committee chairman, he should have the sole authority to anoint who represent his ward, despite the open system electioneering process that brought in Mrs Okunola Oladele.
In a petition against Fola Salami forwarded to the APC Chairman in Ogun state requesting for urgent help from the transition commitee chairman unruly behavior.
The Ogun State Government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun shouldn’t be aiding and abetting peaceful electoral malpractice for peace across all LG in Ogun State.
