At the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Senegal defender Abdou Diallo has set a semifinal goal for the Lions of Teranga.
This year’s FIFA World Cup is scheduled to run from November 20 to December 18.
The Teranga Lions defender is aiming to see his team break the curse and improve their record at the Mundial by being the first African nation to get past the quarterfinal round of the World Cup.
At the Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup, the Teranga Lions advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Turkey 1-0 at Nagai Stadium in Osaka, Japan.
Senegal are in terrific shape after winning the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on February 6 after defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at the Olembe Stadium Yaounde, Cameroon.
Diallo expressed his desire for Senegal to compete in the World Cup’s last four in an interview with BBC Sport.
