At least 30,000 teachers have signed up to take part in an online conference on capacity building.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization will work with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to organize the training (UNESCO).
Segun Ajiboye, Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), who provided the information, stated that the conference, the second the Council has organized, will take place between Monday, August 22, and Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
It should be remembered that the first conference took place on January 26 and 27, 2021.
The conference’s theme, “Strengthening Teacher Capacity for More Resilient, Transformative and Inclusive Education System,” was presented by Ajiboye, who also promised that the Council would keep looking for ways to help registered teachers be more capable of providing their mandates in a high-quality manner.
“The 2022 annual conference of registered teachers is the second edition of the conference, and over 30,000 attendees have registered online. Additionally, around 9,000 followers are expected to follow on our social network handles, such as Facebook streaming live video.
“Similarly, over 10,000 others will view the program live on UNESCO social media handles. The conference parades arrays of speakers from the academia, development partners and active practitioners.
“A couple of others will be viewing the program in set up viewing centers across three states namely Jigawa, Kano and Kaduna.”
The TRCN boss added that the online conference is one of the already institutionalized mechanisms put in place to fulfil the mandates of the Council,
He said the conference which will be declared opened by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, is also being supported by PLANE and Save -the- Children- International (SCI) with support from sister agencies such as NCCE and NTI.
Ajiboye stated that the Council will not rest on its oars towards getting registered teachers update their knowledge and imparting sound knowledge capable of transforming the country.
