The government of Lagos State has stepped up its crackdown on commercial motorcycle riders, often known as “Okada” in the region.
Dr. Fredric Oladeinde, thee state’s commissioner for transportation, made this announcement at a Thursday inter-ministerial media briefing held in Alausa, Ikeja.
Recall that the Lagos State Government previously said that it was considering outright banning Okada rider operations in all local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
He said that as of September 1st, an outright prohibition on an additional four local governments in Lagos State had been granted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Some of the state’s Local Council Development Areas are also impacted. Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, Oshodi-Isolo, Mushin, and the relevant LCDAs in the areas are among the impacted councils.
